Slow Cooker Philly-Cheese French Dip Sandwich

Ingredients
- 2 tsp. onion powder
- 2 tsp. garlic powder
- 3 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- 2-3 tbsp. olive oil
- 1 ea. 3-4 lb. beef rump roast
- 2 onions thinly sliced
- 2 green peppers thinly sliced
- ½ cup of red wine
- 1 ea. 14.5 oz. can of beef broth
- hoagie buns
- 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- butter
- sliced provolone cheese
Instructions
- In a small bowl combine onion powder, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
- Rub spice mixture all over roast.
- Add olive oil to a heated skillet, then brown roast on all sides.
- Remove roast from skillet, add additional olive oil to skillet, add onions and green peppers and cook until softened.
- Place roast in the slow cooker, add beef broth, wine, and Worcestershire sauce and set to high. Cook for 5 ½ – 6 hours or until beef is tender.
- Transfer roast to a cutting board, allow it to sit for 10 minutes before slicing. Using a slotted spoon remove onions and peppers and transfer to a bowl.
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
- Cut hoagie buns in half, butter each side, and place in the oven, butter side up, and bake for approx. 10 minutes.
- Remove buns from the oven, and onto the bottoms of the buns assemble sandwich with beef, onions and peppers, and top with provolone cheese.
- Place the bottom half of the sandwiches in the oven and bake for about 5 minutes. Place the top half of the bun onto melted cheese and use juices left in the cooker for dipping.
