Stuffed Green Peppers

Notes
Important:
-
Cook peppers in boiling water for 5 minutes.

Remove peppers from water, drain, salt inside of each pepper then set aside
Ingredients
- 6 ea. green bell peppers
- 1 ea. teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- salt and pepper to taste
- ½ cup of uncooked rice
- 1 lb. of ground beef
- ½ cup of water
- ⅓ cup of chopped onion
- 1 ea. cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 ea. cans (10.75 oz. cans) of condensed tomato soup
- 1 ea. can (14.5 oz.) whole peeled tomatoes, chopped
- additional water as needed
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Cut the tops off of the peppers and remove the seeds.
- Cook peppers in boiling water for 5 minutes.
- Remove peppers from water, drain, salt inside of each pepper then set aside
- In a large skillet saute beef and onions until beef is browned.
- Drain off excess fat and season with salt and pepper.
- Stir in tomatoes, rice, ½ cup of water, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until rice is tender.
- Remove from heat and stir in cheese.
- Stuff each pepper with beef and rice mixture and place peppers open side up into a baking dish
- In a medium bowl, mix just enough water to the tomato soup to give it a gravy consistency.
- Pour soup mixture over peppers.
- Cook in a covered dish for 25-35 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly.
